  Volkswagen's sales in China and the U.S. rose in October
  Volkswagen saw sales growth in both China and the U.S. last month, led by compact sedans like the golf and santana and the tiguan compact SUV, according to sales data compiled by Volkswagen.
  Sales in China: new policies spur compact car sales to rebound
  Faw-volkswagen's wholesale sales totaled 151,349 vehicles in October 2015, up 3.3% year-on-year from 146,459 in October last year. Faw-volkswagen's total wholesale sales in the january-october period reached 1,333,490 vehicles, down 10.8% from 1,495,429 a year earlier. Although cumulative sales have yet to surpass the previous year, they stopped falling in October. Shanghai Volkswagen's wholesale sales in October were 153,240 units, up 9.5% from 140,008 units in October last year. Sales for the first 10 months totaled 1,463,000 vehicles, down 1.7% from 1,488,540 a year earlier.

  For the month, the audi brand contributed to the Volkswagen group's overall sales growth in China, up 14.1% from a year earlier to 47,236 vehicles, a double-digit increase. In the first 10 months, the total sales volume was 412,575, compared with 414,842 in the same period last year, which was basically flat. Volkswagen's passenger car brand was essentially the same last month as it was last October, with 104,113 and 105,048 vehicles, respectively. Cumulative sales for the first 10 months fell 14.8% from 1,080,587 vehicles to 920,915 vehicles.
  By market segment, compact cars were the backbone of vw's growth in China last month, with an almost universal upswing that included compact sedans, compact suvs and compact coupes.
  Compact car:
  · Shanghai Volkswagen new lavida increased 1.7% year-on-year from 31,674 to 31,709; The main growth models were 1.6lmt and 1.6lat, with the latter increasing by 13.8%.
  · faw-volkswagen sagitta increased 1.5% year-on-year from 25,004 to 27,644; The main growth models were sagitta 1.4tat, sagitta 1.6at and sagitta 1.6mt, with growth rates of 17.7%, 7.9% and 16.8% respectively. These three models are also the three best-selling cars of sagitar in China;
  · faw-volkswagen golf increased 1.7% year-on-year from 17,800 to 18,108; The main growth models were golf 1.4TMT and golf 1.4TAT, up 47.1% and 18.1%, respectively.
  · Shanghai Volkswagen's new santana increased 18.8% year-on-year from 15,100 to 17,932; The main growth models are new santana 1.4mt and new santana 1.6mt, both of which are manual transmission models, and the sales volume is also leading among santana models.
  · Shanghai Volkswagen mingrui increased 10.5% year-on-year from 12,061 to 13,329; The main growth models were mingrui 1.6at, mingrui 1.6mt and mingrui 1.4tdsg, with growth rates of 14.5%, 6.5% and 19.2% respectively, which were the top three models sold by mingrui in the month.
  · faw-volkswagen audi A3Sportback increased 57.9% year-on-year from 1,661 to 2,623; The audi A3Lim rose 140% to 3,399 vehicles from 1,416 a year earlier. Both models saw a surge in sales of the 1.4t model, while the 1.8t model sold little.
  The compact SUV:
  Shanghai Volkswagen tiguan increased 0.8 percent year-on-year to 20,289 vehicles from 20,119; The main growth models are tiguan 1.8tmt and tiguan 1.8tat;
  Shanghai dazhong ye di increased 87.8% year-on-year to 3,150 vehicles from 1,677; This is the first time that the company has sold more than 3, 000 cars a month in China. The two best-selling cars, the 1.4tdsg and 1.8tdsg, both doubled, up 125.8% and 115.7%.
  Compact coupe:
  Shanghai dazhong lamando's wholesale sales volume in October was 10,041 and retail sales volume 11,335, with a month-on-month increase of 18.94%, both breaking the 10,000 mark. Total wholesale sales this year are 77,261. According to the distribution of vehicle types, lamando 1.4tdsg accounts for nearly 70%, followed by lamando 1.4tmt and lamando 1.8tdsg.
  Looking at the sales of the above models, it can be seen that the sales growth is mainly concentrated in 1.6 liter displacement and the following models. On October 1, a new round of auto market incentives came into effect, with the purchase tax on small cars with engines smaller than 1.6 liters cut in half. This became a key driver of the auto market's rapid recovery in October, especially in compact cars.
  U.S. sales: passat and compact led the way
  Unlike the Chinese market, Volkswagen posted growth in October across all major U.S. brands, including the Volkswagen passenger car brand, where deliveries rose 0.24% from a year earlier to 30,387 vehicles from 30,313, while cumulative sales fell 2.19% to 294,602 vehicles from 301,187.
  Among the model families, golf, passat and tiguan were the main growth drivers for the month.
  The biggest seller was the passat, up 24.60% from 6,513 to 8,116.
  It was followed by the golf series, up 40.20% from 4,076 to 5,716.
  Tiguan posted the highest growth, up 167.10% from 1,803 vehicles to 4,815 vehicles. Not only did sales double from a year earlier, it was also the best month for tiguan in the us.
